ONITSHA—The candidate of United Democratic Party, UDP, in  the last governorship election in Anambra State, Mr. Godson Okoye has advised  contestants who lost in the election not to go to court on grounds that it would amount to setting back the wheel of progress in the state.

According to him, “the state has passed through several momentous stages in her match towards statehood but none is as strategic, challenging and significant as the election of February 6,  2010.”

Addressing newsmen at Obosi, the UDP flag bearer congratulated the Governor- elect, Mr Peter Obi for his resounding victory at the poll, adding “it is true that the election was not perfect, it is, however, above average and can therefore be said to be credible. We must therefore, move on for the sake of the long suffering people of Anambra State.”

“The time has come for the truly patriotic Anambrarians, to rise above the recently distorted meaning of politics by showing greater dedication and seriousness to higher ideas and principles in order to redeem the state and thus give politics a more serious meaning. We must chart a new course because it is glaring that there is urgent need to evolve a new political culture that  will adequately and effectively take us out of the wood and make our people secure and prosperous” said Okoye.
