The North West Zone of the National Sports Commission, NSC, in Kaduna, has presented the Minister and Chairman of the NSC, Engineer Sani Mohammed Ndanusa, a meritorious award for administrative excellence.

The Director-General of the NSC Chief (Dr.) Patrick Ekeji was also given an award for his “untiring efforts in Grassroots Sports Development in Nigeria.”

A delegation from the Zone led by the immediate past Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Ademola Are presented the awards to the Director General, Chief (Dr)  Ekeji who received them on behalf of the minister and himself in Abuja last Tuesday.

The awards, according to Mr. Are, are basically to express profound gratitude for all the encouragement Zone VI obtained from the NSC, emphasizing that without the minister and the DG’s fatherly support, the Zone would not have been able to achieve anything.

He maintained that as a result, the Zone decided to come to Abuja to present the awards to the Minister of Sports and the Director-General of the National Sports Commission.

Responding, the Director-General of the NSC thanked the North West zone VI for the awards, saying they appreciate what they have been doing, adding that it is the collective efforts of all the staff that makes the Zonal office the best and what it is today.

Chief Ekeji remarked that the Minister realized that Zones must be encouraged because they are the source of constant competition at the grassroots level, and that if competitions are created and marketed, recognition will be there for them.

The DG also said that the NSC will create capacity building in administrative, executive and stadium management training so that the staff could improve themselves.  He advised the staff to educate and improve themselves for growth and assured that the NSC will support the Zones in funding and welfare to make them active and productive.
