N/A wrong in declaring Goodluck Jonathan Ag. President — NBA

THE Nigerian Bar Association, NBA rose from it National Executive council meeting in Yola Friday and declared that the invocation of the “doctrine of necessity “ in resolving the political logjam by the National Assembly clothing Vice President Goodluck Jonathan as Acting president was technically wrong.

In a communiqué issued after the two-day meeting, NBA NEC in session, how ever explained that the invocation was probably expedient for the stability of the polity.

The association added that it will refrain from further commentaries since the issue is before the Appellate court.

The NEC in session lauded the principle position adopted by the President of NBA Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) standing by the constitution and the people of Nigeria through out the period of the crisis.

While describing the scenario as a national disgrace, NBA called on the inspector general of police Mr. Ogbonna Onovo to thoroughly investigate the allegation with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.

On the Jos crises, NBA NEC condemned in strong terms the orgy of killings of innocent citizens and wanton destruction of properties which have become a re-current decimal in Plateau state.
