KANO — THE Kano Police Command, yesterday, paraded a 60-year-old man suspected to have lured three minors and forcefully defiled them contrary to the provisions of penal code.
The suspected rapist, Audu Mu’azu, was among the 20 criminals paraded by the Kano Police Command for criminal activities in the state.

Briefing journalists at its Bompai headquarters, the new Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Jerry Gana, revealed that the rape case was transferred to the command by the Kano Hisbah Board, explaining that detailed investigation would be carried out including a certified  medical report on the defilement.

Gana said the incident was allegedly committed in Gadon Kaya in the metropolis where the suspect worked as a guard, adding that the three victims fall within the age of 12, and 13.

The Commissioner of Police described the incident as “sickening” but reiterated the commitment of the police to confront the untoward behaviour and punish offenders.

Suspected criminals paraded by the police included Aliyu Bashir from Dawakin Kudu local government area of the state who was alleged to have strangulated a two-week-old baby to death and buried her in public cemetery.
Bashir was said to have impregnated his girlfriend, and when she put to bed weeks ago, the suspect  made a spirited attempt to donate the baby to orphanage to solve the problem of what he called “illegitimacy” of the child.

The new CP then solicited the support of the public to burst crime and criminal activities in the state, stressing that city dwellers should report suspicious people to the police for action.

Gana also paraded a gang that terrorized the city dwellers recently, adding that lethal weapons, army and police camouflages and cash were among the items recovered from them.

He said all the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the command concludes investigation.

In a chat with Vanguard, the suspected rapist dismissed the allegation as “blackmail” by his enemies, pointing out that going by his size and stature he does not possess the mental ability to rape three minors at a time.

According to him, “I was dragged to Hisbah office where officials confronted me with the allegation, it was then I started seeing traces of those enemies around me.”
