FG to provide 600 hectres of grazing land in Katsina

The Federal Government is to provide 600 hectares of land to cattle rearers under its grazing reserve project in Katsina State.
Dr Aminu Umar, the Project Manager, National Livestock Project, made the announcement in Runka village, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, during an inspection tour of the project.

He was accompanied on the tour by Amb. Umar Kaoje,  the National Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers Association, and Alhaji Sule Bayari, the Secretary, Sultan Committee on Conflict Resolution between farmers and herdsmen.

Umar said that already, some 400 hectares had been provided since the beginning of the project in May last year.
He said an earth dam was also being constructed to provide potable water for cattle rearers, their animals and other communities in the area.In his remarks, Kaoje said the project would go a long way in boosting animal production and reduce mass movement of cattle rearers to other parts of the country.

He commended the Federal Government for initiating the project and advised the Fulani herdsmen to make the best use of the facility when completed.
