By Gbenga Akanmu
Members of the Committee set up to probe allegations of financial impropriety against Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State by the Lagos State House of Assemby have expressed concern over their safety due to alleged threats messages received via phone calls and texts .

This was revealed during plenary session yesterday, by some members of the committee.

Mr Adelabu Onibiyo, a member of the committee  told the House that he was embarassed on Friday when he started receiving phone calls asking why he did move the motion to impeach the governor. “I was scared of going out because of what could happen. Some people are not too sure of the intention of the House,” he said.

On his part, Mr Moshood Oshun said since last Thursday when the committee was set up, he had received calls and most were threats and added “that the fact that a committee was constituted does not mean we have started a move to impeach the governor.”

According to Mr Sanai Agunbiade, “a lot of text messages are flying around and many messages containing threats have been sent to our phones.”
