Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fasola, and fans of Manchester United Football Club will be on hand to support their favourite English Premier League club at the Civic Centre in Lagos at the official launch of the partnership between Globacom and the English League champions on Thursday, February 18.
The Lagos State helmsman, a strong fan of Manchester United, has been slated as the special guest of the chairman of telecoms giant, Globacom, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., at the event. The public presentation of the partnership is the first Manchester United has ever entered into with any corporate organisation in Africa.
Former Manchester United forward, Andy Cole, is leading a delegation from Old Trafford with the English Premiership trophy to Nigeria for the ceremony.
Cole will, before the ceremony, host fans of the club to a photo and autograph signing session at the Gloworld on Adeola Odeku in Victoria Island from 1pm on Thursday.
Officials of Globacom explained that the photo session was arranged to give the fans an opportunity to touch the trophy won by their darling club in the 2008/09 English Premier League season.
“It is a rare opportunity for Nigerian fans of Manchester United to have a feel of the Premier League trophy and pose for photographs with one of the club’s legend, Andy Cole, and this is consistent with our quest to always feed the passion of Nigerians in any area, especially in footballâ€, the company said.
Some football personalities who will be attending the event include ex_internationals Victor Ikpeba, Peter Rufai, Segun Odegbami, Ogbonna Kalu and Waidi Akanni.
