El-Kanemi settles players’ outstanding debts

The Nigeria Football Federation has commenced the payment of six million and nine hundred thousand naira (N6.9m) owed to 20 players and officials of El_Kanemi Warriors football club of Maiduguri over the years.

NFF Assistant General Secretary (Competitions), Dr. Sanusi Mohammed who supervised the payment of the outstanding allowance to the aggrieved players, said NFF is determined to ensure that all other clubs with pending arbitration cases would be made to settle outstanding allowances of players and officials.

Addressing five out of the 20 beneficiaries who received various amounts, Dr. Sanusi said: “This is a very important day in Nigeria football. You have contributed your quota by serving this country through your talents. Your benefits cannot elude you. That is why the present NFF administration has made efforts to ensure that you collect what is due to you”.

Spokesman of the beneficiaries, Aminu Yusuf commended NFF for the gesture and appealed to the present leadership at the Glass House to ensure that other defaulting Clubs are made to pay players and officials they have been owing over the years.

The three players and two officials who collected their cheques at  the NFF Secretariat on Monday were Coach Sani A. Sardauna, Okotie Cyril Toju, Francis Onyegbula, Ibenegbu Ikechukwu and Coach Aminu Yusuf.

Dr. Sanusi said the remaining 15 players and officials who have already been contacted are expected to come forward any moment from to receive their allowances. He explained that the exercise is a continuous one, as all other cases of arbitration will be treated fairly.

The occasion was witnessed by the Head of Inter_clubs, Mr. Lawrence Katken, the Secretary of the National League, Mr. Ayo Rahaman and the Secretary of the Amateur League, Mr. Emmanuel Adesanya
