CNPP hails INEC, police on Anambra poll

Lagos—The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties , CNPP, yesterday  commended INEC and the police for steps they had taken to ensure a successful governorship election in Anambra tomorrow.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the CNPP National Chairman, Chief Maxi Okwu, said the heavy police presence in the state showed the commitment of the Nigeria Police to ensure a hitch-free poll.

“What we have seen so far is a major show of force and I think the heavy police presence shows that the force means business to ensure a violence-free election,” he said.

Okwu also commended INEC for promising to announce the result of the contest in each polling booth before taking the ballots to the collation centre.

“This decision by the INEC is a welcome development because it will go a long way in checkmating rigging after voting.”
