Lagos State governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, yesterday, appreciatedÂ religious bodiesÂ for their role in maintaining peace and harmony in the state. He said this in aÂ goodwill message at an interdenominational divine service of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos chapter.
The theme was â€œAs the Father hast sent me into the world so I have sent youâ€.
Fashola said that despite numerous ethnic groupsÂ in the state, LagosÂ enjoysÂ peace, saying that this has been instrumental to various progresses being made in the state.
He expressedÂ his gratitude to the church leaders, especially CAN, Lagos chapter, for their prayer forÂ his administration and prayed that their prayer forÂ peace in the state will continue to be answered.
Monsgr. B. A. Okodua, chairman ofÂ CAN, Lagos chapter, in his welcome address, noted that the state ought to appreciate God because it has no record of unrest or any religious crises since the inception of democratic rule in the state.
Okodua appreciated the governor for the new face of the state and prayed thatÂ God will continue to sustain the state and the nation.
