Be cautious, Etolor urges Ijaw leaders

Chairman of Izon Okosu-Otu, Ijaw Elders Council, Chief Bare Etolor, has urged Delta State Ijaw to exercise caution over the reported clamour by Ijaw lawmakers to arm-twist Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to support their fourth term bids, saying the Ijaw body will take a position soon.

“Our people are angered at the clamour and arm-twisting of the governor for more terms in office by even legislators of Ijaw extraction who have not rendered satisfactory stewardship after representing the people for upwards of ten years.”

Etolor stressed that the Izon Okosu-Otu, set up by royal fathers to protect Delta Ijaw interests, is consulting widely and will come out with a definite position on the fate of non-performing Ijaw legislators not later than February 2010.
