Accord Party lauds INEC on Anambra guber poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and its  chairman, Professor Maurice Iwu have been  commended for successfully conducting the Anambra State governorship election held on 6 February 2010.

The Accord Party of Nigeria, APN, in a statement  by its  National Chairman, Mr. Muhammed Nalado, said  that the electoral body had proved all book makers wrong by ensuring that the gubernatorial election, which hitherto had generated much heat and apprehension within the polity recorded a huge success in all spheres.

“The APN believes that the Anambra State experience had actually vindicated INEC as an unbiased umpire, who if given all necessary logistic support is prepared to conduct hitch free polls in all our subsequent elections.”

The party noted that the few complaints that greeted the conduct of the election, such as omission of some names on the voters register, was not enough to rob INEC of the well deserved commendation going by series of logistic problems that confronted the electoral body prior to the conduct of the election.
