Bayelsan-born, FIFA Player’s agent, Ebi Egbe a.k.a Mr Moni and his Europe-based technical partners, Limonta( FIFA ACCREDITED CONTRACTORS) have put in motion machinery to bid for the possession of Premier league defending champions, Bayelsa United who is being put up for sale by the state government.
The state Governor, Chief Timipre Silva recently intimated the players and officials of the team of his administration’s plans to privatize the club or put it up for an outright sale for interested buyers with a minimal take-off grant from state Government. He disclosed this when he hosted the team recently in his office in Yenagoa.
Governor Silva explained that the cost of financing the club is becoming a burden on the state government especially in this period of economic melt- down.
According to Egbe, he is in discussion with his foreign partners in the area of a collaboration on this project which will see Bayelsa United being offered to a foreign club as their feeders team, just as in the case of ASEC MIMOSAS of Cote D ivoire and Premiership giants, ARSENAL.
He added that the team will in turn be responsible for the upkeep of the club. Egbe further spoke on his company’s plans for the team.
“We are set to apply to the state Ministry of Sports for the possession of Bayelsa United. We shall approach some clubs in Europe to adopt the club as their feeder’s team who will in turn finance the activities of the team and transfer the players to their teams in Europe . All parties involved will benefit from the arrangement and the players and the people of Bayelsa will benefit the most from it “
