MAIDUGURI — A group under the umbrella of Borno Muslim Forum, BMF, has called on the Federal and Plateau State governments to immediately constitute a panel of inquiries to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the recent Jos mayhem with a view to bringing culprits to book.

The forum, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, noted with grief and sadness the recent happenings in Jos and its environs where many lives were lost and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed.

The forum also called on the Plateau government to accept every person residing in the state and protect their lives and property, adding that the state government should as a matter of urgency resettle, rehabilitate and compensate all those affected by the crisis.

While commending the Vice-President and the security agencies for their prompt response to the crisis, the forum also appealed to the Federal Government to make public the outcome of the past commissions of inquiries.

The group said punishment should be meted to those found wanting no matter how highly placed, to act as deterrent to others.

According to the forum, “the entire Muslims of Borno State are seriously disturbed with the crisis in Jos and its environs and sympathised with all those affected.
