Minister and Chairman National Sports Commission, Engineer Sani Ndanusa, yesterday, declared that ‘mother luck’ gave the country the victory against Zambia in the on-going African Cup of Nations in Angola. The Eagles after the barren 120 minutes duel Monday night edged out the hard fighting Chipolopolo 5-4 on penalties to advance to the semifinal stage.

During his ministerial briefing yesterday, Ndanusa however, stated that the Eagles are capable of bringing the trophy to the country.
“It was mother luck that gave us the victory against Zambia in the on-going Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. Yes.

I watched it and saw how we performed. However, I congratulate the Eagles for the victory. With this type of mother luck, we are capable of bringing the Cup here in Nigeria ”, he said.

He stated that the seriousness attached to the country’s participation at the African Cup of Nations and World Cup underscored the decision of the Federal Government to constitute a high powered Presidential Task Force with the responsibility to complement the efforts of the NSC and the Nigeria Football Federation to ensure that everything that was required in terms of funding, technical input and other logistics to successfully execute the participation of the Eagles at the two major football events were adequately addressed and accorded prompt attention.

Ndanusa emphatically said that the PTF was supportive and complementary.
“The PTF came on a rescue mission; especially after our World Cup qualifier against Mozambique in Maputo when it became evident that our qualification for the World Cup that is holding on our African soil was shaky. So, the PTF should be accepted as a partner in our football development”, Ndanusa said.
