Military rule not an option – Bola Ajibola

By Bashir Adefaka
Former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN), has warned that any attempt by any individual in the system to hide under the current chaotic situation in the country to invite the military will not work.

Speaking with Saturday Vanguard in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital recently, the retired jurist said nobody would take Nigeria seriously if the military should ventured again into government.

The former minister, however said, instead, the political class should realign themselves and allow the Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to begin to direct the affairs of the State in the capacity of Acting President pending the  return of President Umar Musa Yar’Adua.

President Yar’Adua left the in November, 2009 and ever since has been receiving medical attention at King Faisal Medical Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

His failure to handover power to his deputy  has generated a lot of controversies in the polity.

There were fears in certain quarters that the military might stage a come-back under the guise of wanting to save the nation from collapse.
