Wife of the Benue state Governor, Mrs. Yemisi Dooshima Suswam has described the death of Mrs. Mariam Babangida as a great loss to the nation and the less privileged Nigeria women whose lives she touched in special ways.

The Benue First Lady who noted that death has snatched a great woman who was renowned for her philanthropy and humane disposition regretted that the former Nigerian First lady died when her wealth of experience and touch was needed more by Nigerian women.

According to Mrs. Suswam, the world would not easily forget the late Mrs. Babangida who through her pet project, Better Life For Rural Women, positive impacted on the lives of Nigerian women irrespective of their social status.

She noted that the legacies left behind by the former Nigerian First Lady would be nourished by women in the country stressing that “the best way to immortalize and honour this great woman is for all women in the country to continue to sustain her vision of a better living condition for the Nigerian woman and children alike”.

Mrs. Suswam, urged Benue women to emulate the late former First Lady whom she described as a virtuous woman who lived and died in her struggles to ensure that the Nigerian women had a fair share of rights and privileges in the Nigerian nation.
