Lagos State Government has inaugurated governing boards of some public hospitals in the state in an effort to improve the quality of services to the people.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris while inaugurating the eight-man boards on Thursday, charged members to ensure the provision of optimal healthcare services to general populace of the state.

The public hospitals that had its members inaugurated are: Gbagada, Lagos, Ifako-Ijaiye, Apapa, Alimosho, Agbowa, Isolo and Epe General Hospitals as well as the Massey Street Children Hospital, Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Ebute-Metta and Onikan Health Centers.

According to Idris, the boards have been structured in a way to address any impediments hindering the discharge of satisfactory services to the people that uses public hospital in the state.

Each governing board consists of a retired doctor, nurse and pharmacist as well as the Medical Director of each hospital, the Medical Officer of Health in the local government where the hospital is located, two members of the host community and a private sector participant, Idris stated.
