I ‘ve no Presidential ambition — FCT Minister

By Emeka Mamah

KADUNA — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero, said that he is neither aspiring to upstage President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2011 nor become the Vice-President. He added that those peddling such rumours were out to put a wedge between him and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on one hand and Yar’Adua on the other.

Aliero said that his present pre-occupation was to provide needed infrastruc-tural facilities in the FCT.
The Minister spoke through his aide, Abdullahi Zuru in Kaduna, yesterday.

Zuru said that those behind the campaign first placed a jingle at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Kaduna, highlighting his achievements in the FCT and concluded that he was aiming for higher positions. He pointed out, however, his boss was not nursing any such ambition for now.

According to Zuru, it took a protest letter from Senator Aliero for the FRCN, Kaduna to stop the airing of the said jingle.

He said that his boss’ loyalty to President Yar’Adua and Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, was unshaken.
“We inherited 12 major and vital projects that were abandoned due to lack of funds, and these projects cut across water, road construction, schools, transportation and waste disposal, costing over N300 billion when we came on board a year ago.
