Five in Police net over Enogie’s murder

BENIN—FIVE persons suspected to be involved in the murder of His Royal Highness, Solomon Udobor,  the Enogie of Ugolo Community, Ovia South-West local government area of Edo State, have been arrested by men of the state police command.

The late traditional ruler was shot dead in his bedroom last Sunday by gunmen who stormed his residence at about 7.21 pm.

Although the names of the suspects are still wrapped in secrecy by the police, Vanguard learnt that the suspects were arrested following a confessional statement made by one of them earlier apprehended by men of Ugbowo police division after the gruesome murder of the traditional ruler.

Reacting to steps so far taken by the police on the matter, Edo State Police spokesman, ASP, Peter Ogboi, vowed that the police would  unmask those behind the killing.

He appealed to the public to assist the police with useful information that would help in its investigation.

Ogboi also promised that the command would leave no stone unturned to track down other suspects behind the murder.

The 55-year-old Enogie, was alleged to have been assassinated in connection with the kingship tussle in his domain.
