ESPN outdunks Archers in Senate President’s tourney

It was a parade of ex-internationals as ESPN at the weekend defeated Archers Basketball team and emerged champions of the maiden Senate President, David Mark Basketball championhip in Oturkpo, Benue State.

Among the ex-internationals that featured in the championship include coach of Lagos Island basketball team and former national team player, Ogoh Oduadu.

Others are veterans Victor Ogbo, Igoche Mark as well as American College basketball stars – Emmanuel Mark and Gideon Acha.
After a week-long of dunking, ESPN humbled Archers by 40-32 to lift the Senate President’s Cup.

The competition which was held under the auspices of “Mark the Ball Basketball Organisation” also saw Experience taking home the 3rd place trophy after beating Dreams by 39-20.

All the top finishers went home with sports kits and cash prizes ranging from N100,000, N75,000 to N50,000 with the winners taking the biggest pie.

In his remarks, the Senate President, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Honourable Agbo Ogah, said the tournament was targeted at engaging the youths as well as help in resuscitating the game of basketball in the country.
Senator Mark also promised to make the competition an annual event and as part of his efforts to encourage the mental and physical wellbeing of the masses.
