By Chinyere Amalu

ABUJA— Former Chief Justice of the Federation, Alhaji Alfa Belgore yesterday expressed concern over the rate at which Nigerians are seeking medical attention abroad despite numerous colleges of medicine and university teaching hospitals in the country.

According to Belgore, who was speaking at the Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, 1st Intellectual week in Abuja titled “Enhancing healthcare delivery through local research’’, said Nigerian doctors are best all over the world.

His words, “why the situation continued when Nigeria had so many colleges of medicines and doctors who were properly trained to manage situations. I believe our doctors are the best trained anywhere .

“I think the problem is they are not availed the facilities in post qualification training on new development.
I will give some example, up to recent years, Nigeria and Egypt used to supply doctors to Saudi Arabia, and they never performed badly”.
