Anambra: Ngige embarks on voter-education

By  Dennis Agbo

AWKA-FORMER Governor of Anambra State and governorship candidate of the Action Congress, AC, Dr. Chris Ngige has embarked on voters education in the state for the February 6 governorship election, asking prospective voters to come out with their voter’s card to cast their vote on the day of the election.

Ngige told the people that either of their voter’s card obtained in 2006 or that of last year was valid for the election, urging them, however, that incase anybody has lost his or her own voter’s card, such a person should quickly go to any of the nearest AC ward offices to search for his or her name, copy out the number in a piece of paper and present same at the polling venue, where the presiding officers will authentic it with corresponding picture of such a person and the person would be allowed to vote.

Canvassing for massive turnout out of voters, Ngige said “I tell you people that the AC was able to obtain from INEC, copies of the voters’ registers for all the 4, 611 polling units in Anambra State and they are in display in all the 326 wards. I therefore urge anybody who may have lost his or her voter’s card to go to any of our party offices to check for his name and number in the polling booth where such a person was registered.

“Our men in the ward offices will search for your name and if it is found, they will copy it out for you in a piece of paper, which you will present at the election venue and if your name is equally found in the register at the polling unit, of course your picture will be there, and I am sure you will be allowed to vote,” added Ngige.
