Vanguard Publisher, 5 others bag NIMN award

Mr. Sam Amuka Pemu, Publisher of the Vanguard Title and five others were yesterday honoured by The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN)with the Most Valuable Personality (MVP) award in a programme tagged Night of Titans for their contribution to the development of marketing.

Mr. Pemu was honoured with Lifetime Achievement in Print Journalism Development. The five others include: Otunba Olasubomi Balogun, Group Chairman of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), who received the lifetime achievement award in  Financial Market Development, Mr. Chris Doghudje, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) Chairman was awarded Lifetime Achievement in Advertising development.

Others are Mr. Mike Okereke, Chairman, Business Education Examination Council (BEEC) International, Lifetime Achievement in Public Relations Development, Amb. Segun Osoba, Founder/Patron, (AREF) Nigeria got the Lifetime Achievement award in Broadcasting Development and Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, President-General, Association of Nigeria Market Women and Men with Lifetime Achievement in Retail Development.

Speaking, Chief. Luggard Aimiuwu, President/ Council Chairman, NIMN at the Night of the Titans said the awardees were those who have distinguished themselves in their various field of endeavour and shown resilience in the development of their profession.

The NIMN President noted that the night was to celebrate value, whilst saying, “In my view, value is life’s ultimate legacy. Value defines the individual’s real worth to society, for this reason this honour is being bestowed on the recipients for their contribution to the growth of the marketing profession.

Aimiuwu said that Nigeria may not be a country of angels, “but we did not invent all that is evil. The country/may not be a garden of Eden, but neither is she a coven of demons. No nation moves forward by deliberately compromising value and destroying excellence. It is absolutely critical to progress that we deliberately, as a people, conquer our demons and reverse the national pastime of hero-bashing and villain-praising, and also redirect our energies away from vilifying giants and glorifying dwarfs.”

He went further to say, “just as the Icon of Marketing event which recognized attainers of the pinnacle of Marketing achievement, NIMN, as engine room of value creation, developer and promoter of value creation, value capture, value addition, value application, and value sustenance has formally instituted Most Valuable Personality (MVP) Award scheme, as an annual celebration of individuals and organisations who have made exceptional contribution to value creation in the life of consumers, customers (clients, constituents et al) and Nigerian society at large.
