ABUJA—THE governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 6 February 2010 gubernatorial election, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, said yesterday that with the judgment of the Supreme Court, the opposition camp has been thrown into mourning, just as he reiterated that with him in the race, Anambra State would sing a new song.
Also reacting to the apex court’s ruling yesterday at the National Secretariat of the PDP, the National Chairman of the party, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor described the pronouncement as a dream come true, even as he said that the party will now have a relaxed mind to swing into action.
Answering questions from Journalists, Ogbulafor said, “I think it is dream come true and I am highly pleased with the Supreme Court judgment on our candidate. We are going to Anambra State in full force.
We are swinging into action and we intend to recover all lost grounds. This government believes in due process and rule of law. That is why we have been very patient for the judgment to come through. Now that it is done, the party will swing into full action.
“I believe that Anambra is completely PDP and so, the response when we go into the field will be very assuring and I have no doubt that victory is assured.
“Meanwhile, I want to appreciate the stand of INEC because they have proved that they stand for justice because they have been waiting for the court’s decision before they could clear Soludo. Now that the courts have done it, I do not think there is any other hindrance for the PDP. Therefore, Soludo has become the candidate of PDP and I am grateful for that”
Speaking also, Soludo said, “I think today is a good day. God has spoken and the Supreme Court has spoken and millions of Anambra people are speaking and praying.
I think God has heard our prayers and the liberation of Anambra State has really begun.”
