Rep empowers constituents with N10m facilities

TO create jobs and reduce poverty in his constituency, the Enugu North/Enugu South federal constituency Rep, Prince Ofor Chukwuegbo, has distributed machines and equipment worth over N10m.

The facilities distributed by the lawmaker under his economic empowerment scheme for the people of the two councils that make up the federal constituency were 28 motorcycles, 28 grinding machines, 26 sewing machines, 26 hair_dryers, 26 small generating sets, 26 clippers and145 bags of 50kg rice.

He also doled out N300, 000 to each chieftains and officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the two councils of Enugu North and South as well as the Hausa and Yoruba communities.

Chukwuegbo said while distributing the items to beneficiaries of the scheme at the New Haven Primary School, Enugu, that he conceived the programme as a way “to give back to the society and ensure the well being of his people as a way of sustaining our nascent democracy.”

On his stewardship at the National Assembly in the past two and half years, the legislator disclosed that he had been involved in the sponsorship and co_sponsorship of bills on community policing, prison reforms and other issues that would better the lots of the people,  attracting a number of projects and facilities to his constituency such as Library project for Amechi-Uwani community, 100 units of computer sets and an ongoing ICT building at the College of Immaculate Conception and Uwani Secondary School , Enugu .
