NIMASA’s Helicopter grounded, magt orders for new engine

THE Search and Rescue Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has been grounded as the engine of the aircraft has been damaged.

Disclosing to Vanguard in Lagos recently, the NIMASA’s Director-General Mr Temisan Omatseye said that an order has been placed for a new engine from France.

Omatseye explained that the aircraft will remain grounded until the engine is fixed.

The Helicopter ‘Augusto 139’ was lunched along with the commissioning of the newly constructed Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinating Center by the current Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Captain Erastus Mitropolous earlier this year.
