Ministry, agencies defend N240bn education budget

ABUJA—Federal universities and agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education at the weekend defended, before the Senate Committee on Education, how they intend to utilize the N249 billion allocated to the education sector in 2010.

The defence came amidst protest by the Chairman of the Senate committee on Education, Senator Joy Emodi, about the drop in the percentage allocation to the education sector.

Among those who defended their budgets were the Ministry Headquarters led by the Minister of Education, Dr. Sam Egwu, the National Universities Commission led by its Executive Secretary, Prof. Julius Okojie and the vice-chancellors of the federal universities.
