Igbo bizman escapes kidnappers’ den

A Kano based Igbo millionaire, Chief Christian Awagi has miraculously escaped from the hands of his abductors who seized in him in Kano last Tuesday at his residence.

Awagi, popularly known in Kano social circles as Awako was reported to have regained his freedom when the vehicle he was being ferried to an unknown destination crashed on  an electric pole outside the city.

Police PRO Baba Muhammad Azare explained that ‘no arrest was made but the police are working on investigation to unravel the circumstance leading to the abduction.”

Chief Awagi, now with his family, has rebuffed attempt to speak on the ‘lucky escape’.

Saturday Vanguard learnt that the kidnappers who escaped unhurt with the business man dragged him out of the car and the man on sighting the police, engaged his captors in a free for all fight.

The ensuing confusion was said to have attracted the security personnel on road block who closed in on them. The captive was rescued as the captors escaped.

Mr. Christian Awagi was alleged to have been forced  into a Mercedes Benz after the first vehicle he was captured developed a mechanical problem and was abandoned.
