‘Guest houses for Senate President, Deputy wasteful’

By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—A BENIN- based legal practitioner, Mr. Olayiwola Afolabi, has faulted the move by the Senate President, Senator David Mark and his deputy to have guest houses built for them in Abuja with billions of naira of tax payer’s money as ridiculous and a waste of public fund.

Instead, he said the money voted for the projects should be channeled into the provision of basic amenities that would impact on the lives of millions of Nigerians who could hardly afford three square meals per day.

He insisted that both senators do not need official guest houses in Abuja as they already had private houses in the city that could accommodate their visitors.

He told Vanguard yesterday in an interview in Benin that both men were not fit to hold their present positions and should, therefore, be impeached since they did not care about what was happening to other Nigerians except their own interests.
