Don’t give up on Ibori, CDHR tells EFCC

Asaba—MEMBERS of the Committee For the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Delta State chapter, have hailed the decision of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to appeal the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court in Asaba last Thursday, which discharged the former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, from charges of alleged money laundering.

The group, in a press statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Oghenejabor Ikimi, at the weekend, said: “The attention of the CDHR, Delta State chapter, has been dawn to the recent acquittal of Chief James Onanefe Ibori by the Federal High Court Asaba, presided over by Hon. Justice M. Awokulehin over the criminal charges preferred against him by the EFCC.

“We call on the EFCC not to throw in the towel by challenging the above judgment in the Court of Appeal in the interest of the suffering masses of the state.”
