The Managing Director, Bank of Industry (BOI), Ms. Evelyn Oputu has challenged women entrepreneurs in the country to do more than they are presently doing, saying “the women themselves need to do a lot of image enhancing in their business endeavours.”

Oputu who addressed participants at a two day training workshop for Nigerian women in Lagos, said that whereas the average man in business understands the importance of positive image building and products branding in his business,  women sometimes indulge in low mentality in their approach to business.

She said there was need for a change of both attitude and strategy if women are  to optimise their potentials.

According to her , the bank is genuinely concerned to seing Nigerian women  in better control of their economic wherewithal. She said the same desire was what informed the establishment of a women’s desk at the bank manned by a man who is not only hardworking but also empathic towards women.

She said these are in addition to the floating of a cooperative lending programme which she said currently  has given out as much as N2 billion in support of genuine empowerment and entrepreneurship schemes. “The Bank of Industry (BOI) is addressing many women issues from different angles because we understand that without empowerment, women cannot do much.”
