All States travel rolls out plans for Nigeria @ 50

As Nigerians prepare for     the country’s golden jubilee celebration next year, tour companies and individuals are already planning ahead as All States Travel & Tours have come up with a programme tagged NEXT.

In a chat with journalists in Lagos Tuesday, Alhaji Saleh Kareem Rabo, the Managing Director of All States Group, disclosed that NEXT is an acronym for the Nigerian Experience Tour.

He said the Nigerian Experience programme is “a corporate driven tourism-based initiative put together by All States Group  in collaboration with its Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) arm, known as, Peace, Arts, Culture and Tourism (PACT) Foundation and other cultural organisations.”

While explaining that they have put in place a year-long celebration filled with many robust activities throughout the year, Rabo said “the vision of the initiative is to put Nigerians ‘back to work’ by promoting the ‘productivity and the dignity of labour’s ideals of yesteryears when Nigeria was a leading producer and exporter of many commodities such as cocoa, groundnut, rubber, cotton, palm oil, among others.

“The mission of the Nigeria Experience is to bring together Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to participate in its flagship programme anchored on a historic trade exposition at the Nigeria Village Square, a Living History Cultural Theme Park at the foot of the famous Zuma Rock opened in 1999.”

Alhaji Rabo said that the theme of the exhibition will be Our Future Lies in Our Past with the sub-theme, We All Live by Selling Something, which is built around the premise that business considerations, rather than politics was the driving force behind the creation of Nigeria.

“Famous icons of our socioeconomic heritage such as the famous cocoa trade, the coal mine and the groundnut pyramid of the pre-independence and immediate post-independence era will be depicted by our company while other exhibitors, corporations and organisations – past and present – that played a part in Nigeria’s economic history will tell their story through the exhibition.”

He said other activities will start with a summer youth camp in August to be followed  by an entrepreneurship conference, essay and art competition under the title; My Village Product, Art Exhibition, a dance drama all tied around the theme; Nigeria Experience Tour (NEXT).

He said the Zuma Rock Village will host the  Trade Expo which is  billed to start on 2nd October, through  31st December, 2010 with exhibitors participating while the exhibition of the economic icons will continue till October 2011 in line with similar theme parks such as Windows of the world in China.

Pharaoh’s Villages in Cairo Egypt. Epcort Centre in Disneyland, all depicting the World.

“This is one clear aspect of the Nigeria Experience Tour vision. We have no doubt that we can count on your cooperation to run with this vision, until it becomes a clearer picture that all Nigerians can see and admire.

The Project is a distinguished positive product that can be used to showcase Nigerians as “Good People in a Great Nation.” in line with re-branding vision of the Federal government.”
