Youth leader condemns rise in kidnap cases

A YOUTH leader in Igbanke community of Edo State, Mr. David Olubor, has condemned the spate of kidnapping in the country, particularly the recent abduction of a prominent member of the community simply called KOB, who was only released after N10 million ransom was paid.

The youth leader, in a statement, also decried attempt to kidnap one Lady Lily in the community which was foiled by the police.

According to him, “police authorities have deployed a crack team to compliment the efforts of the CID in Benin who had earlier arrested a member of the syndicate.”

The statement added that the police were on the trail of other members of the syndicate and urged the police not to relent “until the masterminds of kidnap-ping and murder of promi-nent indigenes are tracked down.”

These developments, he further said, were not unconnected with alleged moves to make Igbanke community part of Ika in Delta State which was being resisted by some community members.
