TMG raises alarm over anti-graft campaign

By James Ezena

A coalition of civil society and human rights groups, the Transition Monitoring Group, TMG, has raised the alarm over alleged fresh plots by some powerful individuals in the country to frustrate the President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua administration’s anti-corruption campaign.

The TMG disclosed this yesterday in a statement by its chairman and publicity secretary, Comrade Mashood Erubami and Musa Rafsanjani, respectively, adding that it is painful that some individuals in this country would join hands to thwart the current anti-corruption war despite setbacks which corrupt and unethical practices have foisted on Nigeria.

Particularly disturbed by recent media reports alleging that some Governors and a Court of Appeal Justice are desperate to secure bail for jailed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cheiftain, Chief Olabode George, the group urged judges in the country to ensure they defend the rule of law.
