TI rating: Leaders must redouble efforts against corruption – Cleric

By Akoma Chinweoke

WIFE of the general overseer of Christ  Redemption Bible Church and  national president of Redemption Virtuous Sisters, Pastor Martha Ogundare, has said it is time for Nigerians to have a rethink and seek the face of God for total cleansing from corruption and other problems afflicting the nation.

The cleric, who gave the advice in Lagos at a press briefing ahead of the 10th annual convention of the women in the church holding under the theme: “Yes You Can,” said although the new corruption index by Transparency International  has shown that the country has slipped in the past years,  the leaders must redouble their efforts in the anti-corruption fight.

“Corruption is a disease that has been killing our country and which the church frowns  at because God himself  frowns at it. We know that every government starts from the home and, at Virtuous Sisters, we are committed to teaching our people how to live upright and fulfilling life and, so far, God has not disappointed us .

To those that are in government looting public funds at the expense of public good, I am telling you that it not the right thing to do because you would not have a place with God in heaven.

Any child of God that indulges in such act must desist from it as corruption destroys our relationship with God and fellow man.The only way we can help in the fight as religious bodies is to constantly shun corrupt practices as it is not pleasing in the sight of our creator.”
