By Evelyn Usman
The Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, said it had deployed over 12,000 policemen including  undercover operatives to key areas in the state, with a view to ensuring that the Sallah celebration was devoid of violent crimes.

The keys areas include Mushin, Ajegunle, Agege, Ajah, Iyana-Ipaja, Idi-Araba, Oshodi, Ojota and other violence prone areas.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Frank Mba, who made the disclosure, also said the waterways were not left out, as Marine policemen  had begun a 24-hour patrol to nib in the bud activities of hoodlums who might want to come through the channel to perpetrate their devilish acts.

Mba who assured that the command was not going to leave anything to chance, said foot and vehicular patrol by policemen would be noticed in residential  and relaxation areas. He, therefore, warned unscrupulous individuals to take their nefarious activities outside the state, as the command would not spare anyone caught.

The command’s image maker said particular attention would be focussed on beaches in the state, as Marine policemen and professional swimmers had been assigned to assist workers at the beaches in ensuring that no fun seeker went beyond the stipulated point.

He, however, warned fun seekers to be mindful of the sea tides, recalling how some individuals got drowned at the Bar Beach while having fun recently.
