Promo wrap up; who wins Etisalat’s $1m cash prize?

Following  Etisalat’s  announcement of  the commencement of the 9jillion promo in June this year. It became obvious that the telecoms operator was set to  impact the lives of its subscribers in a unique manner. The potential economic empowerment offer by the promo was not lost on subscribers who reciprocated through mass participation and subsequent winnings.

The 3-in-1 promotion gave Etisalat customers the opportunity to win phones and  millions of naira at the One 9ja Regional Game shows. The grand finale of the promo  is  scheduled for November 6, 2009 in Lagos, where the luckiest subscriber will win one million US dollars _ The first in the annals of promo prize winnings in Nigeria, and indeed Africa.

With the count down to the end of the promo, Etisalat has rewarded its customers with about 5,000 phones, over 40 millionaires had been produced through cash prize rewards at the One9ja Game Show across the country, in addition to various sums of money ranging from three hundred thousand to six hundred thousand naira that has already been won by  subscribers.

At the launch of the promo in Lagos, Etisalat Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, had said; “This is certainly the biggest promotion in Nigeria. It is an amazing opportunity for thousands of lucky Nigerians to win fantastic prizes like mobile phones, millions of naira in cash and then one very lucky subscriber will walk away with a grand prize of one million dollars. We are committed to giving them not just the best talk experience in Nigeria but also the best all round experiences for being on our network,” Steven Evans enthused

According to some of the millionaires who emerged at the regional game show, Etisalat has made them to live their dreams.
For Kizito Egeonu, a medical student of the University of Jos who played with her team in Kaduna and won N2.2 million, said,  “this is too good to believe, we never thought we could emerge winners in the game just like that. When I decided to enter for the promo, I took it as one of those promos where I could just try my luck and invited my other sibling as part of the requirement for participation.

We are so grateful to Etisalat for this opportunity. I will sure encourage my other family members and buddies in school to participate in the promo.
According to Ramoni Ahmed who won N2.2 million with his friend Kola Ganiyu at the Lagos edition of the game show. “This is a dream come true. I have been imagining myself winning millions since I got an invitation from Etisalat to be part of the Game Show.”  He could not hold back his excitement as he dwelt on the sudden life changing experience of  winning the amount and was subsequently presented with the cash prize by Etisalat.

The story shared by Edward Amiah, a student of the University of Port Harcourt after emerging the winner of N2.2 million is quite touching.  He believes it is the hand of God working in his life and is eternally grateful to God through Etisalat.  In an emotion laden voice, Amiah said, “Whatever level I attain from now on in my educational career I give the credit to Etisalat. This couldn’t have come at a better time than now. I was faced with a situation where my mother who is a petty trader is ill and the little savings I had has gone into paying her huge hospital bills and my father is late so I was almost at the point of dropping out of school for lack of money to continue.  Thanks to Etisalat, my education is back on track and my mum can now get good medical attention.”

The story of Etisalat’s exploits at imparting the lives of its customers continued in other regions where the game show was held. This includes Benin, Abuja, Sokoto, Maiduguri and Ibadan.
