Presbyterian Church plans confab on national values

THE Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) is to hold a convention aimed at redressing the decline of religious, moral and national values. The three-day convention, tagged, “the second National All-Presbyterian Conference,” is scheduled for Hope Waddell Training Institution, Calabar, Cross River State, from November 26 to 29. “It will be based on the church’s theme for 2009: People Of The Covenant (Gen. 17: 7).

In a statement, Moderator of the General Assembly of the church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Ubon Bassey Usung, lamented the situation in which Nigerians glorifify materialism and encourage unbridled quest for prosperity. The Moderator said the convention was one of the church’s contributions towards addressing the situation through spiritual revival in order for Nigeria to re-gain its growth in accordance with God’s plan for the nation.
