Oyo: Lam, Ajimobi tackle PDP

By Ola Ajayi

IBADAN—SENATOR Abiola Ajimobi, the governorship candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party in the 2007 election and the former Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina have put political differences behind them to battle the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a standstill in the re-run election coming up on Saturday.

After the peace brokered by the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the two politicians have agreed to work together in future elections to vote out the ruling party.

In a rally organised by the Action Congress to formally welcome Senator Ajimobi who left the party in 2007, following some irreconcilable political differences with Lam, Ajimobi openly defected to the AC.

The ex-governor used the occasion to warn the PDP not to contemplate rigging the forthcoming re-run election into the House of Representatives, following the judgment of an appellate court which nullified the election of the PDP candidate, Mrs. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo.
