Osun: AC, impotent political factor in S’West, says Omisore

By Emmanuel Aziken

ABUJA—Senator Iyiola Omisore has dismissed the Action Congress as an impotent political factor in the Southwest, saying that the AC is much of a noisy empty barrel outside Lagos State.

Appraising his chances ahead of the forthcoming re-run of the Osun East senatorial seat also dismissed his opponent as an unknown political factor who was only flying the agenda of former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State.

Omisore who occupied the Osun East seat in the Senate until the court ordered re-run election, described the Yoruba people of Southwestern Nigeria as a one party people who made a shift from the Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2003.

Omisore who claimed the major role in registering the AD and giving it its name said he was in custody of the party’s registration certificate.

He further affirmed that the late Bola Ige who he described as his political leader would also have shifted allegiance from the AD to the PDP in 2003 if he had not been assassinated by yet to be identified persons.
