A 31-year-old woman has been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with 92 wraps of heroine, 14 of which she stuffed inside her hair.

The suspect, Angela Okiri, was arrested at the departure lounge of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, last Sunday.

A native of Oredo in Edo State, Angela was heading for Italy on board Alitalia flight, when she was reportedly tested positive during screening of passengers.

A break down of the 92 wraps of heroine which weighed 930 grammes, according to the Agency’s head of Public Affairs, Mr Mitchell Afoyeju, showed that aside the 14 wraps hidden inside her braided hair, Angela ingested 52 wraps and concealed the remaining  in a sanitary pad in her hand bag.

The suspect said to have lived in Bergano, Italy for 11 years as a labourer, during investigation confessed to have been introduced into illicit drug business by some of her undisclosed friends, attributing her acceptance to her present state of joblessness and inability to meet up with some financial responsibilities. She further revealed that she was to be paid 4,000 Euros had she succeeded.
