N-Delta youths hold peace concert

By Chidi Nkwopara
OWERRI — The leadership of Niger Delta Youths Forum (NDYF) says it has completed arrangements to float a peace concert to show that peace has finally returned to the region and reinforce the post-amnesty message.

The NDYF Media and Marketing Consultant, Dr. Ndubuisi Ugochukwu, explained that the arrange-ment was evolved in pursuance of its core advocacy role in the region, especially to pacify youths.

“The initiative will totally focus on peace and youth empowerment through re-orientation and entertain-ment.

“The international commu-nity, multi-national compa-nies and other corporate bodies that fled the region would be further reassured to return and do business and create jobs for jobless youths in the area,” Ugochu-kwu said.

He said there would be a peace march in all the nine Niger Delta states and a post- militancy youth rehabilita-tion symposium, which would anchor eminent scholars and entrepreneurs.

He affirmed that militancy created an atmosphere of uncertainty, loss of lives and property, as well as engineered the eventual pullout of corporate organisations and loss of jobs among the citizenry.

“We thank God that peace has returned and we are appealing to all the business enterprises to return to base and commence full operations. This is the time to put the sad period behind us,” Ugochukwu pleaded.
