Let’s have faith in Amodu, Chukwuma, urges NFF

By Eddie Akalonu

Gabros FC proprietor,     Chief Gabriel Chukwuma believes it would be a waste of fund and effort hiring a foreign coach  to take Nigeria to the World Cup next year, saying past effort in the same direction had done little or no good for the Eagles. He suggested that Nigerians should have faith in Amodu, the man who did much to ensure  Nigeria qualified for the first World Cup in African and should be allowed to carry out the job to a logical conclusion.

God gave us the ticket because so many of us kept on praying, asking  for Divine intervention while on the field, the technical crew and the players worked hard.“Amodu is better than some foreign coaches they talk about all the time He is even better than some of those they have brought into Nigeria in the past. Amodu has done well getting the team through the qualifiers and picking a ticket for the country. At least he is better than the last foreigner (Berti Voghts) they hired to coach the national team.

I am not in support of getting a foreign  coach like we did  when they brought mediocre coaches who willingly agreed to share their salary with some people,” Chukwuma, a former NFA first vice chairman said.
He  said he would not subscribe to a change in the technical crew except it was clear the NFF would go for a goal getter .“I will agree to it only if they can convince me they would get somebody worth his onion.

When they hired a foreign coach in the past, it was a few top shots who benefitted  from the deal not  our country nor football. But if, like I said, it is to get someone with something to offer this country, who would stay to reorganise our football, focus on youth programme development and give direction to the national team ,then I am for it,” he stressed.
