Imo to conduct LG election, plans 3,000 jobs

LAGOS—Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State announced that arrangement had been concluded by the state government to conduct  the local government election in the state, adding that about 3,000 persons would be recruited into the State Civil Service,  next year.

He also said the state  plans to create more  local development areas.

Governor Ohakim, who made the disclosure in Lagos during the Imo Day/Cultural Carnival organised by Imo State Towns Development Association, Lagos chapter (ISTDAL), said it had become necessary for the creation of additional LCDs in the state to assuage the yearnings of people of the state and to take development closer to the grassroot.

The Governor who was on hand with  the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and other state lawmakers, said there was no political problem whatsoever in the state as speculated and that the three arms of government have continued to work together for common good of the people.
