A GROUP of education rights activists, under the aegis of Education Rights Campaign (ERC), has condemned in its entirety the reported seizure of  August and September salaries of public universities’ workers by the Federal government because of the recently suspended industrial action that paralysed the nation’s ivory towers for over three months.

Workers under the umbrella of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Related Institutions (NASU) and their Nigeria Association of Academic Technologists counterpart (NAAT), had recently suspended their over three-month strike after reaching agreement with federal Government which included no victimisation of workers for participating in the industrial action.

ERC in a statement by Ewebiyi Keye, called on government to immediately release the seized salaries to avoid throwing the nation’s universities into another round of industrial unrest.
