Eid el Kabir: Prices of food stuffs remain stable in Enugu

Enugu—Prices of food stuffs have remained stable in Enugu as Muslims celebrate the Eid el Kabir festival this weekend.

A survey conducted by NAN at the Ogbete Main Market during the week, showed that 50kg bag of local rice sells for N6,000 or N7,000 depending on the brand while imported rice goes for between N8,700 and N10,200.

A rice seller, Mr Onyema Eze, told NAN that the prices had been the same in the past three months.

He said patronage had been low.

While a bag of onions sold for N7, 000 and N17, 000 depending on the size, a medium sized basin of gari goes for between N3, 000 and N3, 700.

A big bag of beans goes for N15, 000 while yam tuber goes for N200 and N250. A 10kg of vegetable oil sells for N1, 700, the same price for palm oil.

At the new Artisan Livestock Market, a medium sized ram that was sold for N12, 000 last year now goes for between N23, 000 and N25, 000.
