By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN—THE Federal High Court sitting in Benin has adjourned till November 17,  hearing in the suit filed by the Chairman of the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) in Edo State, Dr. Samson Isibor, against the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danlami Yar’Adua.

In the suit, marked FHC/B/CS/245/09, Dr Isibor is asking the court to restrain the state commissioner of police  from harassing and arresting him pending the determination of the motion on notice.

He is also seeking the order of the court to enforce his fundamental human rights as enshrined in sections 37, 39 and 41 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Isibor was arrested on September 30th this year by the police in the state on alleged order of the state government for alleging that Governor Adams Oshiomhole engaged cultists as commissioners in the state executive council.
However, the Presiding Judge, Justice Idris Muhammed, adjourned the case till November 17, 2009, for hearing.

Meanwhile, the CRPP has lauded what it described as the courageous spirit of the two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members who resigned as commissioners in the state executive council last Monday.

Isibor said in a statement that  “ the action smacked off an honour and demonstration of their progressive mien as principled personalities that chose not to be corrupted by a faulty system”.
