Afriqiyah Airways takes delivery of Airbus A319 aircraft

Libyan airline, Afriqiyah Airways, has taken delivery of its third medium range aircraft, the Airbus A319. The General Manager of the airline in Nigeria, Mr Abdulnaser Abukhsheim, said

“the A319 will be integrated into Afriqiyah’s fleet, and be deployed from our hub in Tripoli, from where we operate non-stop key routes in Europe such as Paris, Brussels, London, Rome ,Dusseldorf and Amsterdam, as well as to 17 destinations in North, West and Central Africa and the Middle East.

According to him, “the aircraft is configured to seat 124 passengers in a very comfortable two-class configuration and is powered by CFM56-5B engines.”

He disclosed that “a total of four Airbus aircraft have been delivered to Afriqiyah Airways from Airbus Industries between August and October, which include A330/200 5A-ONF delivered August 11, 2009; A319/111 5A-ONI delivered on August 24, 2009; A330/ 200 5A-ONG delivered on September 8, 2009 and A330/ 200 5A-ONH delivered on October 1, 2009.” Mr Abukhsheim said  all the aircraft were manufactured with regards to the latest highest technology available in the aviation market and the In-flight – Entertainment System supplied by Tales includes the touch screen – individual monitors.

“The Seat Pitch in the A330 C- Class is 75 inch and could be converted to a 180 degrees Flat Bed.  “The Seat Pitch on all the A 330/A320/A319 Y/Class are 40 inch which provide our passengers complete comfort,” he added.
