Abuja carnival: We spend N20m on Durbar, by Dangote

ABUJA— DANGOTE group of companies disclosed yesterday that it spends a total of  N20 million annually to sponsor Durbar to the annual Abuja Carnival.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja yesterday at the Durbar ground, the Executive Director, Industries, Dangote group, Isa Tata who noted that the contribution was part of the company’s social responsibilities aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s cultural heritage, stressed that if properly harnessed, the country’s earnings will now be diversified from other sectors like tourism rather than from oil.

Tata who noted that the company has been sponsoring Durbar since the inception of the Abuja Carnival, said it would also help in the developmental process of the country, adding that Durbar provides illumination perspective to the display of horses to the joy of spectators, as well as provide the best atmosphere for traditional and political leaders to put their heads together to discuss significant issues relating to development.
